2014 Festa

2014 Festa do Espirito Santo Presidents

Our Family is truly humbled, grateful, honored and inspired by the Holy Spirit to serve as Presidents of the 2014 U.P.S.E.S. Festa do Espirito Santo. Dinisa and I take enormous pride in our Portuguese Heritage and Culture, but especially in sharing the tradition of giving which Queen Saint Isabel of Portugal taught us through her unrelenting Faith, Love and Compassion for the poor. Her life has been a glowing example over the centuries and is worthy of celebration for centuries to come. We are honored to be given the opportunity to serve the San Diego Portuguese-American Community and carry on her legacy.

The Festa do Espirito Santo is San Diego's Oldest Ethnic Festival and our community will be celebrating its 104th year. This celebration brings together our community together in devotion for the Holy Spirit and with pride for our culture and traditions. Our Family may not have as long of history of involvement in the Festa as some, but our parents provided us a strong spiritual foundation of devotion which we feel is the greatest of responsibilities to pass onto our children.

Janée and Justin are thrilled to have the honor of representing our Community as the 2014 Festa Queen and King. We are very proud of them for not only accepting the responsibility but in following the traditions and examples of our wonderful founding fathers. The Holy Spirit continues to guide our children with help from our family and close friends standing at their side.

Our Family would like to acknowledge and thank everyone who gives of their time and talents for the Festa and the San Diego Portuguese Community. The Festa's true meaning is built upon the foundation of selfless service which is embodied by all the volunteers and Social/Civil Portuguese Organizations who give countless hours to the Kitchen, Bazaar, Parade and Fundraisers. We appreciate the generosity of your priceless time and support. Dinisa and I look forward to working with you as the Holy Spirits guides us to make this celebration a tremendous success.

Please join us for our First Festa Fundraiser on Friday, September 27, 2013 with the 16th Annual "Splendor in the Grass" Golf Tournament and Banquet. We invite you to participate and join us in all the fantastic future events as we prepare to celebrate the 104th Annual Festa do Espirito Santo beginning on Friday June 6 through Sunday June 8, 2014.

May the Holy Spirit and the inspiring Faith and Devotion of Queen Saint Isabel bless you and your families today and always.
